The NBA Player Participation Policy was not violated, the league notes, as it was a legitimate injury.
In giving the fine, the league took into account the team's prior history of fines for violating reporting rules, the official announcement says.
Embiid hasn't played in Denver against Nikola Jokic since 2019, sparking a series of online ridicule once again. With his projected absence this week, Embiid has only several games he can miss if he wants to fight for the MVP trophy, which requires players to play in at least 65 games during a season.
In addition to the 76ers, the New Orleans Pelicans were fined $25,000 for not including Trey Murphy III on the injury report for January 27th's game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
