Three months on, the franchise is trading Adams to the Houston Rockets for guard Victor Oladipo, two 2024 second-round draft picks and one 2025 second-rounder, ESPN reported Thursday.

Adams, 30, has been sidelined since January 22 due to a season-ending posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury, which kept him out of the final 36 games of the previous campaign.

Despite undergoing a stem-cell injection in March with the hope of returning after a re-evaluation in four weeks, the injury persisted through the playoffs and the offseason.

He is expected to be ready to return to the court in 2024-25.

The 30-year-old center had an impactful presence on the court in 2022-23, averaging 8.6 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.5 blocks over 42 games.

Adams has averaged 9.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game over 706 career appearances (641 starts) for the Oklahoma City Thunder (2013-20), New Orleans Pelicans (2020-21) and Grizzlies.

On the other hand,Oladipo, 31, tore the patellar tendon in his left knee during the first round of the playoffs last spring while with the Miami Heat. That necessitated Oladipo’s third major surgery in four years, following two on his right quadriceps.

Since then, Oladipo has been traded three times: from Miami to Oklahoma City, from there to the Rockets and now to the Grizzlies.

Oladipo, the second overall pick of the 2013 draft, has averaged 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists over his 504-game career with the Orlando Magic (2013-16), Thunder (2016-17), Indiana Pacers (2017-21), Rockets (2021) and Heat (2021-23).
