More than five months after the infamous injury, Simanic has shared some positive updates about his potential return to the basketball court.
"As for recovery, I didn't do anything because I wasn't allowed to. Fortunately, the recent findings indicate that everything is within normal limits, granting me the green light to initiate physical efforts. I am scheduled for some tests, and if all goes well, I will begin my training. I hope that in three or four months, I will be in shape," he spoke during the Serbian Olympic Committee award ceremony, via Telegraf.
Simanic also clarified the situation with his current team, Zaragoza.
"I have a contract with Zaragoza. I have one more year. I am not sure that I will stay, but I am concentrating on my recovery," he said.
During the FIBA World Cup game against South Sudan, Simanic received a blow to the kidney area with just under two minutes remaining and was unable to continue the match.
Following the incident, Simanic was sent to a hospital in Manila, where he underwent surgery during the night.
Despite the initial belief that everything went smoothly, Simanic faced serious complications, resulting in the removal of one of his kidneys.He wasn't able to help the Serbian national team anymore.
