The best ping-pong players are just as talented as the best basketball players. That doesn't mean they are going to be paid the same," started Porter Jr on The Pivot Podcast.
"It's what the people want to watch. So, as much as I understand females wanting the same treatment as men basketball players, it's a different sport," he continued. "They are not packing out the arenas, obviously their TV deals aren't the same."
Michael Porter Jr. still thinks highly of female basketball but is not under the impression that there should be no wage gap.
"As much I advocate for women and the quality of the respect of their craft, you cannot pay them the same thing, you know," he stated. "But I do feel like there should be a little way to make a little bit more money because they are very talented."
He also made a comical gesture, imitating a female player running down the court, and stated that he would not want to watch that.
This year, Porter Jr. is averaging 15.8 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
