Moreover, Mavs fans anxiously watched when Doncic hobbled off the court midway through the first quarter, heading toward the locker room.
The injury occurred when he fell to the floor while contending for a loose ball with Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Luka's ankle buckled under his own weight as The Greek Freak fell on him.
In immediate pain, the Mavs leader grabbed his ankle and took some time to rise to his feet. He promptly exited the game.
"I mean, it's the same ankle. It's okay," Doncic said during the post-game conference. "Just heard the pop, was right there. I've been working almost every day on that ankle, so it's pretty strong now. It's better now. If I did that last year, it was going to be way worse. But this year, almost every day, I work on this ankle, so it's good.
Regarding the incident, Luka explained, "He [Giannis] just fell on my leg, so it was kind of pushed down, so I thought it pops. We will see tomorrow."
Despite the setback, Doncic returned to the court with 3:35 left in the first half, contributing 23 of his 26 first-half points against the Bucks.
The Slovenian had previously sprained his right ankle last month during a game and has been managing the injury since.
