The 37-year-old player will not report to the Hornets camp until the NBA trade deadline, which closes at 3 PM ET on Thursday, February 8th, Jake Fischer from Yahoo Sports reports.
Lowry is on an expiring $29.7 million contract. If no trade materializes until the deadline, the Hornets and Lowry might work on a settlement for a buyout. As such, he would become an unrestricted free agent, able to sign with any team in the league.
Best known for his years with the Toronto Raptors, Lowry averaged 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game for the Miami Heat this season.
