Micic isn't concerned with his playing time on the Thunder. Instead, he wants to prove his worth again, just like he did in the Euroleague, instead of just existing in the NBA.

After becoming the EuroLeague MVP and winning multiple titles in Europe, Vasilije Micic moved to the NBA. However, his playing time is nothing short of inconsistent.

Micic has played in just 29 of the Oklahoma City Thunder's 50 regular season games so far, averaging 12 minutes on the court and recording 3.4 points and 2.5 assists per game - a stark contrast from what he experienced in the EuroLeague.

"In a sense, I wasn't sure I was going to end up in Oklahoma at all, as far as the summer transfer flow. But, after the medical examination and talking to all of them, since they have been in the story for about three years, they had an insight into my career, detailing and following my every step.

Obviously, in one of those conversations, that advance happened because they decided to come out with an offer, and considering that I waited so long for that departure to the NBA, I somehow felt that when I put things on the table, when I see what is being offered to me and at the moment of my career, it was enough to prevail for me to take it as an option," Micic explained his decision in an interview with B92.

Despite playing seemingly minuscule minutes in the NBA, Micic isn't concerned with his playing time. On the contrary, he's trying to prove his worth once again, just like he did in Europe when he rose through the ranks in multiple years.

"Regarding the adaptation itself and whether I am at peace with this situation, I am, honestly, because originally, I wanted to enter the NBA in the right way," he said. "I never chased something in my life, I always built my way somewhere, wherever I was, I never got an opportunity from the start, but through time."

Playing as a backup to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Micic is trying to prove his worth as the playmaker of the second unit. His upbringing of having already done that in the EuroLeague, starting as a role play in Zalgiris Kaunas and developing to become one of the premiere players in the league, will help him do it again, just in a different setting, he says.

"Because of that experience, I somehow considered that the trust shown to me through the contract, through the value of the contract in terms of years and the value itself is a sufficient indicator that I enter with a great deal of respect here. I knew what the concept of the team was and what they've been doing essentially for two, three, maybe four years, and what kind of players I would be surrounded by in my position, that was all clear to me," Micic said.

"Of course, as a person, I have never reconciled with the current situation in terms of the desire to prove myself and to change the flow that was presented at the start, and I have managed to do that until now, and I don't think that's why I have any anxiety. My idea is to be an accomplished player in the NBA, not to come just to be [here]. I've said that several times, and I think it's all part of the process that's happening now," the player explained.
