Although not all games have been played, the EuroCup playoff participants are already clear.
Twelve teams (6 teams from each of the two groups) have qualified for the next stage, with the game between Turk Telekom Ankara and Slask Wroclaw playing a key role, as Turk Telekom's win closed the playoff door for Buducnost VOLI Podgorica.
Buducnost might reach as many wins as the Turkish team and Aris Midea Thessaloniki, but the Montenegrin squad holds the worst head-to-head record between the three teams with just one win and three losses (Buducnost 1-3, Turk Telekom 2-2, Aris 3-1).
Paris Basketball and Mincidelice JL Bourg-en-Bresse have already won their respective groups and are going straight to the quarterfinal. Meanwhile, Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv, London Lions, U-BT Cluj-Napoca, and Dreamland Gran Canaria are still in the run to receive a bye during the Round of 16.
In a new format this season, two top teams from each of the groups skip the Round of 16 and go straight to the quarterfinal stage. The remaining eight teams compete in a single elimination game.
The third-placed team in Group A will play against the sixth-placed team in Group B, the fourth-placed team in Group A will compete against the fifth-placed team in Group B, and vice versa. The higher-placed team gets the home-court advantage.
The four winning teams will then proceed to the quarterfinals to play against the four teams that received a bye. The quarterfinals are played in single elimination, while the semifinals and the final will be a best-of-three series.
