Partizan Mozzart Bet BelgradeandCrvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgradeare two of the candidates for the next A licences to be allocated, and Euroleague's leadership took the chance to visit the Serbian capital in order to find out more about the future of their collaboration.
As confirmed by the Telegraf, the meeting with Crvena Zvezda and Partizan was arranged much earlier.
"In light of the recent articles published in several media outlets, Euroleague Basketball would like to state that President, Mr. Dejan Bodiroga, and CEO, Mr. Paulius Motiejunas, met with executive members of Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade and Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade on Thursday, February 8, during their visit to Belgrade," the official release reads.
"The purpose of both meetings was to exchange ideas, review the ongoing season and evaluate future collaborations. Euroleague Basketball would like to thank both clubs for hosting its representation."
Bodiroga and Motiejunas will talk with other interested parties in the coming period, which means that Zvezda and Partizan are not the only clubs considered for the A license.
If A license is given, both clubs will earn additional income from TV rights and the market pool. Additionally, neither of the two sides would have to worry about whether they will compete in the EuroLeague next year.
Motiejunas' recent comments to BasketNewssparked outrage in Serbia, as both the clubs and the local fans were disappointed with the CEO's words about a possible A license for the two Belgrade teams.
