The Detroit Pistons are finalizing a trade to send guard Alec Burks back to the New York Knicks, as per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

In exchange for Burks, the Knicks are sending Quentin Grimes and two future second-round picks to the Pistons, according to the same report.

The NBA insider later clarified the full trade. The Knicks receive Bojan Bogdanovic and Burks, while the Pistons get Grimes, Malachi Flynn, Evan Fournier, Ryan Arcidiacono, and two second-round picks.

Burks, 32, is making a return to New York, where he previously played from 2020 to 2022. He was traded to the Pistons on July 11, 2022, alongside Nerlens Noel, in a deal that involved the draft rights to Nikola Radicevic and a 2025 protected second-round pick.

This season, Burks has posted averages of 12.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists over 43 games.

On the other hand, Grimes, 23, was selected with the 25th pick in the 2021 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers but was traded to the New York Knicks along with a 2024 second-round draft pick for Keon Johnson.

Grimes has been contributing with 7.3 points in 45 matches this campaign.
