One year after being implicated in a family violence case, former NBA guard Bryn Forbes is facing another charge for assaulting the mother of his two children before choking her.

On February 14, 2023, Bryn Forbes was arrested in San Antonio on a misdemeanor family violence charge. According to San Antonio police, Forbes assaulted someone he was said to be in a dating relationship with. EMS was called out to give the woman medical attention.

Police said the woman was struck several times by Forbes, causing injury and needing medical assistance. Forbes was taken by officers into police custody.

One year later, in different incident, the former NBA player was jailed on a third-degree felony charge of assaulting a 30-year-old woman by choking or strangulation, according to Bexar County arrest records. He was jailed on a $7,500 bond.

According to San Antonio police, officers responded to a call at 2:17 a.m. on Monday saying that Forbes had allegedly assaulted a person described as "an ex-significant other." Forbes reportedly fled the scene before being taken into custody late Tuesday morning.

According to court documents, Forbes struck the mother of his two children before choking her. He allegedly told her "if you can speak then you are not being choked" when she told him she couldn’t breathe.

Forbes, 30, played parts of seven seasons in the NBA with four teams, including the San Antonio Spurs. He last played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2022-23. He averaged 8.8 points in 431 games (167 starts) with the Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets and Timberwolves. He won an NBA championship with Milwaukee in 2021.

The incident comes one year after Forbes was arrested in San Antonio on suspicion of assault with bodily injury.

Forbes, 29, was arrested around 5:15 a.m. at the La Cantera Resort & Spa, in the 16600 block of La Cantera Parkway, on the city’s far Northwest Side.
