Following the 101-86 loss, Nets interim head coach Kevin Ollie revealed that Simmons is dealing with a knee issue and will undergo imaging for further assessment.
"It's some knee situation. We don't have any clarity to share. We will go back and get some tests, make sure he is okay," Ollie stated in the post-game conference.
Simmons contributed 4 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals in 15 minutes before exiting the game.
Unfortunately, injuries have been a recurring challenge throughout his NBA career.
The 27-year-old Aussie missed the entire 2016-17 season due to a foot injury and sat out the 2021-22 campaign because of a back ailment.
During the 2022-23 season, Simmons played only 42 games due to a nerve impingement in his back.
Saturday's game against the Timberwolves marked just his 14th appearance in the 2023-24 season.
This season, Simmons has battled a pinched nerve in his lower back, leading to a three-month absence from November to the end of January. Additionally, he has faced time off due to a knee ailment.
