Williams called the episode when Detroit'sAusar Thompsonstole the ball with 10 seconds to go but lost it moments later whenDonte DiVincenzodove for it at his legs an abomination and the worst call in the entire season.
The Knicks got the ball back, andJosh Hartmade an and-one to seal the game.
Crew Chief James Williams talked with Brian Mahoney from the Associated Press as part of the Pool Report after the game. Williams admitted there should've been a foul called during the play.
"Upon postgame review, we determined that Thompson gets to the ball first, and then was deprived of the opportunity to gain possession of the ball. Therefore, a loose ball foul should have been whistled on New York's Donte DiVincenzo," Williams said.
Monty Williams was furious with the no-call.
"We've done it the right way, we've called the league, we've been sending clips. We're sick of hearing the same stuff over and over again. We had a chance to win the game, and it got dove into Ausar's legs, and there was a no-call. That's an abomination. You cannot miss that in an NBA game. Period."
