According to WPVI Philadelphia, theplayer "was shot and seriously wounded by a stray bullet outside a bar in the Olney section of Philadelphia on Sunday," according to a statement from his family.

The news source states that Roberts was not involved in any quarrel of sorts and was instead caught in the crossfire of a gunfight after driving his friend to Philadelphia.

He sustained a wound to his chest, and doctors' reports state that he thankfully will survive. After being taken off the ventilator, Roberts was able to take a walk with his family, who stood by him during the ordeal.

It is unknown who caused the wound to Roberts, as the suspects have not been caught as of yet. In a press release, the Long Island Nets had this to say.

"Terry Roberts was the victim of a crime on Sunday morning in Philadelphia, and we are in the process of gathering more information about the incident. He is currently in stable condition, and he is expected to make a full recovery. Our thoughts are with him and family at this time. Due to the ongoing law enforcement investigation, we will have no further comment."

The guard, who stated that he is eager to make his return to the courts, is averaging 6.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in the G-League.
