"My respect for Olympiacos is huge," he noted. "It means that they are really good. If you ask me to give a team that will win it [the EuroLeague], I believe in karma. What happened last year was very painful for them, but they are the names I am going to put for the trophy at this moment."
When journalists questioned if he considered Real as favorites, Trinchieri acknowledged Madrid's outstanding season but pointed out the rarity of back-to-back victories.
"Real Madrid is having an unbelievable season, and it's easy to say [that they will win]. But I also believe in tangible," Trinchieri said. "Real Madrid is an amazing team; they play great, but they already won. Back-to-back? Very rare. But if you say what is the most talented, the best team -- it is Real."
Los Blancos emerged victorious against Olympiacos in last season's EuroLeague final, with Sergio Llull making a game-winning jumper over Moustapha Fall.
Despite Nikola Milutinov's absence, Olympiacos are currently on a three-game winning streak, demonstrating their determination for a Final Four appearance, even after Sasha Vezenkov's departure for the NBA.
Olympiacos share the sixth place in the EuroLeague standings with Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, having won 15 games and lost 11.
Their away game against Zalgiris is scheduled for Friday at 19:00 CET.
