Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons is once again dealing with a nerve impingement in his back, a condition less severe than the one that previously sidelined him for 10 weeks this season.

Despite efforts to address the issue without resorting to surgery, Simmons will still be out of action for some time.

Taking responsibility for his client's ongoing struggles, Simmons' agent, Bernie Lee, expressed frustration over their attempts to find non-surgical solutions.

"It is a continuation of the same injury that he has dealt with all year," Lee told Ian Begley of SNY.

"We continue to try and find non-surgical options to allow Ben to move forward on a permanent basis and that is where this is my responsibility and I am [the] one to blame.

"When I began working with Ben, I made a commitment to him that I would do everything I could to find the right answers and specialists for him to work with [in order] to move forward from the issues he has been having. Clearly it hasn't happened and that's my responsibility."

Simmons, a 27-year-old Australian, has a history of injuries, having missed the entire 2016-17 season due to a foot injury and sitting out the 2021-22 campaign due to a back ailment.

During the 2022-23 season, Simmons played only 42 games due to a nerve impingement in his back. This season, he faced a three-month absence from November to the end of January due to a pinched nerve in his lower back, along with additional time off for a knee ailment.

"In the year I have worked with Ben, he has taken less than seven days off. In my almost 20 years doing this, [it] isn't something I've seen," Le continued. "So the thought that he is doing everything asked of him but not getting the results is something that in no way shape or form sits right with me and I am committed to finding him the right people and the right answers and we will."
