As the arrival of a team from Dubai to the EuroLeague is nearing its completion, some new details about what the future of the tournament might look like have been revealed.

BasketNews has already reported about a possible merger between the EuroCup and the Basketball Champions League (BCL), where a 36-team format is imagined as a primary scenario.

With the merger of the two leagues, a promotion-relegation system would be set up in place to allow teams from European leagues to qualify for the second-tier joint tournament, AS reports.

According to Encestandoandlater reported by AS, the EuroLeague has received a proposal to host three Final Fours in a row in Abu Dhabi, UAE, starting in 2025. In return, the EuroLeague would receive €75,000,000 for a three-year deal, €25,000,000 for each season.

Additionally, the deal of the current CEO of the EuroLeague, Paulius Motiejunas, who currently works on a one-year contract with the organization, might be extended in the next shareholders meeting, AS writes.

Talks about a team from Dubai joining the EuroLeague have been going on for more than a year. It now seems the most likely way of them competing in the tournament would be through the EuroCup first, as BasketNews have reported.
