AS Monaco Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade98-80 Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade Maccabi Playtika Tel AvivThu18:00On Sunday evening, the team coached by Giannis Sfairopoulos dismantled Slovenian side Krka Novo Mesto 110-57 at the Aleksandar Nikolic hall and took another step to mathematically securing the first place before the playoffs.
The red-and-white squad achieved their most convincing triumph in the season and lead the standings with 19-3, followed by Buducnost (17-5) and Partizan (15-6).
However, next Thursda night (19:00 CET), Zvezda are hosting Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv with the hope that they can improve their 10-18 balance and potentially be up for a TOP10 spot.
Milos Teodosic, Nikola Topic and Trey Thompkins watched the match against Krka from the sidelines, next to the bench. They were accompanied by Joel Bolomboy, who missed the contest as a result of the coach's decision and not because of injury.
Thompkins signed a one-month deal on February 7th, and another 30-day contract on March 7th, with an option to extend until the end of the season, as specified in the club announcement. The power forward is undergoing knee rehabilitation until further notice, which caused him to miss the previous season, and so far he has not even suited up for Zvezda.
An injury to the knee ligaments (they are not suitable for surgery) is still bothering Topic, and Teodosic's ankle. Unofficially, they might return in a period of seven to ten days.
"All three are working individually, but I cannot specify their return," Sfairopoulos said in the presser. "It depends on the medical team, which follows them regularly," the Greek tactician answered politely and vaguely.
