Known as one of the countries with an avid ultras movement, Greece has long suffered from various incidents both before, during, and after matches.
Additionally, new measures were implemented on February 2nd, including a new ticket identification process, among multiple other changes.
Mitsotakis named basketball as an example when talking about the audiences that attend sporting events.
"In basketball, we have gone much further and we see images both in the Greek League and in the EuroLeague with many young children in arenas, with families. This is how we want professional sports to be," Mitsotakis said Skai TV's show 'Mismatched'.
Asked whether both Greek clubs - Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens and Olympiacos Piraeus - can make it to the EuroLeague's Final Four, Mitsotakis was hopeful.
"I wish they'd make it. They both can," the Primer Minister said.
Currently, Panathinaikos are third in the EuroLeague standings, while Olympiacos are sharing 5th place with Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and Virtus Segafredo Bologna.
