Their 6-22 record in the top competition places them next-to-bottom, while their seven losses in the LBN have pinned them down to a three-way tie for second place, far below leaders AS Monaco.
What's more, the coaching changes haven't paid off. From TJ Parker to Gianmarco Pozzecco and then to Pierric Poupet, no tactician has put the derailed train back on track.
In a campaign where there's little to aspire to,Timothe Luwawu-Cabbarotis trying to keep his spirits high and his motivation alive.
"The only thing we can hope for is to make the French league finals," the wingman toldBasketNewslast week.
"It's not going to be easy, but I think we can be in the finals and play against Monaco if they make it as well."
Luwawu-Cabarrot, 28, returned to his native France last summer, signing a one-year deal with ASVEL. Apparently, things didn't turn out as he expected.
Luwawu-Cabarrot himself is having a solid season, averaging 12.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. He's also playing 28:39 minutes per contest, which is the longest among all ASVEL players.
However, his input hasn't materialized into results. ASVEL seem to be just biding their time until the season is over so that everyone can go on with their lives. The French forward has noticed a lack of communication and discipline, regardless of the person who stands on the sidelines.
