According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving desires to represent Team USA this upcoming summer.
Irving was included in a lengthy 41-man extended candidates list in January. With Team USA projected to be built around a core of 7-8 players, Irving would fit in with some of the players he has played with in his career.
Irving has shared the court with both LeBron James and Kevin Durant in the NBA, he won the 2014 FIBA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games with Team USA as well.
Besides James and Durant, Devin Booker, Joel Embiid, Jrue Holiday, Stephen Curry, and Jayson Tatum will form the basis of the roster this upcoming summer.
