Tatum played 27 minutes in an easy win against the Washington Wizards on Sunday, scoring 30 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, dishing out 6 assists, and recording 3 steals and a block.
The 26-year-old has missed only three of the team's 67 games this season, all due to an ankle injury and its related reasons. Talking after the match, Tatum was against load management.
"I've been here [for] 7 years, they understand kind of what they're dealing with. I don't like to sit out. I understand if I was injured or whatever. I've said it before - I just love to play the game, especially on the road. So many out there with Tatum #0 jerseys on came to see me play, so I kind of take pride in sure I'm available as much as I can," Tatum said in the post-game press conference.
Tatum has played in 503 out of a possible 559 games in his career, missing just three in his first two seasons in the league. He averages 27.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game this season.
Led by Tatum, the Celtics currently have the best record in the NBA. With 53 wins and 14 losses, Boston has a significant 9.5-game lead in the Eastern Conference and a 6-game lead against the team with the second-best record in the league, Oklahoma City Thunder.
