The Dubai organization has increased its financial offer by approximately €350,000 compared to its initial offer in the ABA League Assembly last week.
All team travel expenses will be paid by the Dubai organization, Bojan Brezovac from Mozzart Sport reports.
The deal will run for three seasons, starting with the 2024-25 season and running until the end of the 2026-27 ABA League season.
Overall, Dubai will contribute at least €2,500,000 per season:
• A fee of €1,700,000 per season.
• Full coverage of accommodation expenses for all participating teams in the league, including referees and officials, amounting to €200,000 per season.
• Complete coverage of all flight expenses for traveling teams and officials to and from Dubai for away games, to be borne by Dubai Basketball Club, cost of approximately €600,000 per season.
As previously reported, 16 teams will play in the ABA League next season compared to 14 this year.
According to Djordje Matic from Meridian Sport, in addition to 13 teams currently in the competition, the champion of ABA League 2 will automatically join the tournament. In addition, the team who wins the play-out game between the last-placed ABA League and second-placed ABA League 2 teams will take the 15th spot. The 16th spot in the competition is reserved for the Dubai organization.
A maximum of 6 teams per country can play in the ABA League, meaning some situations might arise when the winner of ABA League 2 might not make it into the top-level tournament.
Dubai's participation in the ABA League will not affect the EuroLeague qualification procedure for neither Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade nor Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, Telegraf writes.
With the Dubai team's admission into the ABA League, the door is now open for the organization to join the EuroLeague family, as ABA League's lack of a decision last week was seen as one of the obstacles in making such a decision.
