The 35-year-old guard, who currently plays for the New Taipei Kings, was found to have undergone Intravascular Laser Irradiation of Blood (ILIB), a treatment method that contravenes regulations set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The investigation revealed that while the treatment, arranged by the team, did not involve prohibited substances, it failed to comply with WADA regulations.
Lin's suspension, which begins on March 23 and concludes on April 6, comes amidst a challenging season for the player, who has been dealing with a persistent foot injury sustained in late January.
New Taipei Kings issued a statement clarifying that the treatment was intended to aid Lin's injury recovery rather than enhance his performance.
Lin, renowned for breaking barriers as the first American of Taiwanese descent in the NBA and winning an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019, has been sidelined for much of the year, participating in only four of the team's 18 games across two leagues.
