Only one wildcard team stands out, and it has the opportunity to solidify its presence in the EuroLeague through on-court performance.

AS Monacoremains the sole club with a EuroCup winner status in the competition. According to the EuroLeague regulations, if they qualify for the playoffs, it will secure them a spot in the EuroLeague for the 2024-25 season.

Presently, they hold a two-win advantage over the play-in teams. With their schedule featuring matchups against four non-playoff teams, Monaco will probably be able to determine their fate on their own.

EuroLeague standings

On the contrary, the situation is more complex for the other 5 teams competing for what will likely be 4 remaining spots to maintain their position in the tournament, given that the EuroCup champions will hopefully enter the competition next season.

Besides Monaco, sports merit won't carry much weight except for one condition. According to EuroLeague regulations, only the EuroLeague champions automatically secure participation in the tournament the following year.

But regardless of which teams make the playoffs or the Final Four, the EuroLeague will consider other factors that will play a decisive role in allocating the wildcards.

BasketNews has examined their current status and the arguments they might present to justify their continued participation in the EuroLeague.
