Speaking to The Dallas Morning News, Irving talked about how he has been managing fasting and playing together.
"Ramadan is a special time. You try not to think about the suffering too much and really focus on the journey with God and the path that you’re on and just stay focused on that," he explained.
"It’s a difficult journey. To be able to play 48 minutes and do it without having a drink or any food in my stomach is nothing short of a miracle," Irving said.
Irving is joined by his assistant coach, God Shammgod, who is also a practicing Muslim.
"We're in Ramadan together, so we're holding each other accountable and making sure we get up at the right time to eat. Ramadan is about peace. My job with Kai [Irving] and all the players is to make sure they have peace of mind — even besides Ramadan," stated Shammgod.
In this stretch during Ramadan, Irving is averaging 25.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.
