Having guaranteed to finish the season in first place, the royalty team now braces for the end, as their almost spotless season makes them an enticing target for other EL teams to try and beat.

In an interview with BasketInside, the center talked about the team's situation ahead of the post-season.

"We're in good a form; everybody is coming for us now, and we know that," explained Poirier. "We won many matches, we had an exceptional moment, we are aware that there can also be negative moments, but it is better to lose a few matches now than later," he said.

"We're very confident; everybody keeps working. We have nothing to be scared [of]."

Real Madrid lost a little bit of steam in the second part of the season, losing two consecutive games at home and befalling some blowout defeats. The French center remains unphased about this fact.

"No, no, I don’t think so," he said about the analysis that the team was tired from the first part of the season. "As I said, we had a great moment in the first part of the season, but now we are focused, we are not tired, and we are very ready for the final part of this season," he claimed.

"We must win as many matches as possible, especially those in front of our fans who we know give us an extra push and limit the negative moments as much as possible," Poirier continued.

On another topic, the Real Madrid big man praised his compatriots, Isaia Cordinier and Victor Wembanyama, following a discussion on the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"They're having a great season as the underdog of the EuroLeague. Nobody picked them at the beginning," said Poirier about Virtus Segafredo Bologna. "Isaia is a great part of the team, and he's doing well. I’m happy for him. I wish them the best for the second part of the season, but not against us," he said jokingly.

Poirier then made a special mention to Wembanyama, with whom they share the same position in terms of basketball roles.

"He is young, very talented, and is in a perfect system like the San Antonio Spurs," the center said. "He has already shown great things in his rookie season. He must continue to work. Even on the national team, we will be happy to help develop his talent as much as possible," he concluded, extending aid to his countryman.

With the Real Madrid jersey, Vincent Poirier is averaging 9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
