This defeat marks the fourth loss in their last six games, leaving the team scrambling for a playoff berth. What's particularly frustrating is their recurring pattern of squandering strong starts, often surrendering commanding leads established in the first quarter.
No surprise, veteran forward Draymond Green highlighted the detrimental habits the Warriors have fallen into of late.
"We keep losing, that's not encouraging," Green said in the post-game conference. "It sucks. When you have to win, and you don't, it sucks. In order to win, you have to build good habits, so I don't think we have good habits. Until you play with great habits, you lose.
"We lose a lot of games that we should win," he continued. "In this league, you have to win games you're supposed to win and still a few that you're not supposed to win. But if you lose the ones you're supposed to win, you're in for a long year."
He then addressed the aforementioned recurring issue of second-half meltdowns.
"You just can't win having breakdowns," Green stressed. "It [breakdowns] changes momentum, and momentum in this league isn't easy to get back.
"We're a very quiet team. You have issues on defense when you have bad communication," he went on to say.
With a 36-34 record, the Warriors currently sit in 10th place in the Western Conference standings. However, their position is far from secure, with the surging Houston Rockets, winners of eight consecutive games, hot on their heels with a 35-35 record.
