DiVincenzo made 11 three-pointers in 20 attempts, setting a new franchise record for most made triples in a single regular-season game. While the vast majority of NBA fans applauded the achievement, Williams did not want to commend the player.
Asked about the record, the coach was straightforward.
I don't care about their team at all. I couldn't care less. Those guys, the way they got those threes, I don't want to be a part of that story," he said in the post-game press conference, exiting it after the question.
The Knicks shot three-pointers at an impressive 41.3% during the game. Following the loss, the Pistons have now become the first team to lose 60 games this season.
Meanwhile, the Knicks are 4th in the Eastern Conference with 43 wins and 28 losses in their account.
