According to ESPN Stats & Information research, he joins Kevin Durant, who was tossed five times in the 2017-18 season.
The ejection came after Green received two technical fouls for a heated argument with official Ray Acosta.
Crew chief Mitchell Ervin explained that the second technical was issued because, "after a prolonged diatribe, Green directed egregious profane vanguard towards a game official." Ervin clarified that Green's past record did not influence the decision to issue the technical fouls.
"We need him. He knows that. We all know that," Curry said of Green. "So, whatever we need to do to keep him on the floor and be available, that's what's got to happen. Especially at this point in the year. It was a tough way to start the game."
According to ESPN Stats & Info data, Green is the sole player with multiple first-quarter ejections in a season over the past 20 years.
"Too bad. It was unfortunate. He deserved it. He will bounce back," coach Steve Kerr commented on Green's ejection.
This ejection adds to Green's disciplinary history this season, which includes two suspensions for separate incidents involving Minnesota Timberwolves forward Rudy Gobert in November and Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in December.
