Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade were the only team opposed to Dubai's arrival, while Buducnost VOLI Podgorica's representatives did not attend the Assembly,Meridian Sport reported.
Dragan Bokan, president of Buducnost, appeared as a guest on the show 'Basket Fest on RTCG' and clarified the Montenegrin club's position on the matter. Bokanpointed out that he is not against the entry of Dubai, but added that according to the current rules, such a decision isn't possible without a unanimous vote of the league owners.
"There is no Dubai in the ABA league," he argued.
"We are not against the entry of Dubai, but only when the legal conditions are met will we vote for its entry. There will be no extension, because the decision can only be made unanimously at the competition Assembly. From the legal side, Dubai did not enter the league," said Bokan, who also referred to Zeljko Obradovic since Partizan are Buducnost's next opponent in the ABA League.
"I would like to welcome Partizan, to point out that Zeljko Obradovic, by coming to the ABA League, raised the competition itself. He is the best coach in Europe. I would like to congratulate my colleague Ostoja Mijailović on everything he is doing, the euphoria that has been created around the club itself, that is to be commended."
Bokan also said that only the winner of the ABA League will have a safe place in the EuroLeague next season.
"If we win the ABA league, we will certainly go to the EuroLeague. Everything else is uncertain, because in the elite competition there are 11 clubs with an 'A' license, who decide everything. I don't expect that number of clubs with 'A' license to expand", said the president of Buducnost.
