Detroit Pistons have secured forward Chimezie Metu for the remainder of the season, with a team option extending into 2024-2025, as reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Metu, who recently concluded a 10-day stint with Detroit, showcased his skills over six games, averaging 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds across 26 minutes.

Having previously made 37 appearances for the Phoenix Suns this season, Metu brings valuable experience to a Detroit frontcourt dealing with multiple injuries.

During his time with the Suns, he averaged 5.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 12.1 minutes per game. His standout performance occurred on Christmas Day against the Dallas Mavericks, where he recorded a career-high 23 points and 19 rebounds, albeit in a losing effort.

Despite a brief stint with the Memphis Grizzlies after being traded from Phoenix, Metu found himself waived just a day later.

Originally drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft, the 27-year-old big man later signed with the Sacramento Kings in 2020. Over three seasons with the Kings, he played in 162 games, including 26 starts, and posted averages of 6.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest.
