Perhaps most importantly, the team proposed a contract extension to legendary coach Obradovic.
In an interview with Telegraf.rs, Partizan GM Zoran Savic gave developments on extension negotiations and talked about the team's chances ahead of the post-season, among other issues.
"I believe, for sure," Savic said when asked about whether Partizan would make it to the top 10 or not. "We have 2 games [versus ALBA Berlin and Valencia Basket], and I think that if there are some normal results, we can do it. Everything depends on us. Now, at this moment, it [also] depends on other teams, but I think we have a chance to go through," he explained.
Another question that was raised towards Savic was about the negotiations on a contract extension for Zeljko Obradovic, which were previously revealed by the coach himself and the club's president, Ostoja Mijailovic.
"It's all ongoing. I don't think that will be a problem," the Serbian executive said without much elaboration.
Finally, the GM also talked about Toni Kukoc and his relationship with him, who was recently honored by a biographical documentary entitled "Magicna sedmica."
"First of all, a great person... We all know that, in my opinion, he is one of the greatest players I have played with; I have repeated that 100 times," Savic said, also recalling his own playing career. "He is the most normal person and hasn't changed in years. That's the biggest thing about him."
Since joining Partizan as GM in 2021, Savic oversaw the team winning the ABA League in the 2022-23 season and almost making it to the EuroLeague Final Four that same year.
