With this victory, the Celtics have become the first team to reach 60 wins this season, solidifying their position with the best record in the NBA.
"I think it's important to not take it for granted," coach Joe Mazzulla said after the game. "I think it's important to have gratitude for that. It's very hard to do."
This marks the first time in 15 years since the Celtics achieved a 60-win season, last occurring in the 2008-09 season when the team finished with a 62-20 record.
However, despite their regular-season success, the Celtics faced disappointment in the playoffs, falling to the Orlando Magic in the conference semifinals.
"It's an honor. It's a blessing to be on a 60-win team," Jaylen Brown said on the achievement. "It's a lot of hard work that went into that, especially after, you know, coming up short last season. Responding, coming back, and not skipping any steps, so I think we're on track. 60 wins. When the playoffs start, it's back to square one."
Boston (60-16) has six more games to play in the 2023-24 regular season, squaring off against the Kings, Trail Blazers, Bucks, Knicks, Hornets, and Wizards.
