EuroLeague's Round 33 tipped of Thursday with six teams clinching a playoff spot.

Real Madrid, Olympiacos Piraeus, AS Monaco, FC Barcelona, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, and Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens secured their place in the postseason action after the first installment of the game week.

Friday's 82-75 win over FC Bayern Munich (13-20), who lost all postseason hope, garnered Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens (23-11) the much-coveted home-court advantage in the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

PAO also recorded their 9th road win in a single season, a new club record. The Greens, boosted by 3.500 fans, had four players (Kendrick Nunn, Juancho Hernangomez, Mathias Lessort, Kostas Sloukas) in double digits, while Bayern relied on Nick Weiler Babb (15 points) and Serge Ibaka (14 points, 7 rebounds). In case the Greens beat ALBA next week, they will finish in second place.

Markus Howard dropped 35 points, as Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (17-16) got a huge 95-91 triumph over reigning champ Real Madrid (26-7). Real have already set a competition record for the most regular season victories; but Baskonia snapped their 3-game losing streak and avenged an opening night 77-79 loss to Los Blancos after Markus Howard missed an attempted game-winner on the final buzzer.

To start Friday evening, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul (20-13) saw Anadolu Efes (16-17) win by 82-80 in the derby and leave them out without home-court advantage options. Efes have placed themselves within Play-In contention after winning four in a row. Efes' win means FC Bayern Munich were eliminated, regardless of the outcome of their game against Panathinaikos. The same goes for Valencia Basket (14-18), following their debacle against ASVEL and Efes' win.

Fenerbahce had been unstoppable at home recently, winning eight in a row and surpassing 100 points in four of those. Will Clyburn scored 21 points, along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Shane Larkin added 15, while new EuroLeague scoring recordman in a single game Nigel Hayes-Davis was reduced to only 10 points on 2/11 FG this time around.

In Milan, Virtus Segafredo Bologna (17-16) never gave up but EA7 Emporio Armani team (15-18) kept a solid lead throughout the fourth quarter and cruised to a well-deserved 90-75 win in the Italian derby. Nikola Mirotic led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Thus, Milan stayed in Play-In contention.
