Recently, it was revealed that the Orlando Magic madea $50,000 donation to a super PAC supporting presidential candidateRon DeSantis.

Notably, this donation wasn't from the DeVos family, who own the Magic and who have been involved in politics quite abit.

This donation was from the Magic organization as awhole.

This upset a lot of people, including Magic fans andsome employees. On Thursday, the National Basketball PlayersAssociation issued a statement pushing back on the donation sinceit came from the organization.

“A political contribution from the Orlando Magic isalarming given recent comments and policies of its beneficiary,"the NBPA statement said. "NBA governors, players and personnel havethe right to express their personal political views, includingthrough donations and statements.

"However, if contributions are made on behalf of anentire team, using money earned through the labor of its employees,it is incumbent upon the team governors to consider the diversevalues and perspectives of staff and players.

"The Magic’s donation does not represent playersupport for the recipient.”
