Marc Gasol has had quite a basketball career, particularly in the NBA, where he played mainly with the Memphis Grizzlies in the years between 2008 and 2018.

Throughout his 20-year basketball career (2003-2023), Gasol became an NBA champion (2019), an NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2013), he's a three-time All-Star (2012, 2015, 2017), and a member of the All-NBA First Team (2015).

Accordingly, the forward's jersey was retired by the Grizzlies in a ceremony last night, honoring a life's work of basketball. Many positive reactions poured in for Gasol.

"Congratulations to Marc Gasol on his jersey retirement! One of the best to do it," posted Daryl Morey, Philadelphia 76ers basketball operations president, on X (formerly Twitter).

"I'll never forget my whole rookie year when you were calling me a 'fool' the whole time," said Dillon Brooks, a teammate of Gasol's in the Grizzlies. "Never said my name once. That sharpened me as a basketball player, so I appreciate you and enjoy your night."

Other famous names have also tuned in to wish Gasol well, both in the ceremony and before/after it. He leaves behind a monumental career.
