The news was announced by the Lakers three hours before tipoff. The matchup would be the 11th game that James would miss this season.

The Lakers have won four straight and nine of their last 10 games, moving into the 8th spot in the Western Conference standings. The Timberwolves, on the other hand, are looking to take the No. 1 spot in the West with a win.

James has been averaging 25.4 points (on 54% shooting), 7.2 rebounds, 8.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game this season.
