Sacramento's Monte McNair named NBA's 2022-23 Executive of the Year

Sacramento Kings general manager MonteMcNair has been named the NBA's 2022-23 Executive of the Year, theleague announced today.

In just his third season as an NBA general manager, McNairassembled a team that went 48-34 – securing the No. 3 seed in theWestern Conference and ending the Kings' 16-year playoffdrought.

McNair hired Kings head coach Mike Brown, who was the unanimouswinner of the NBA's 2022-23 Coach of the Year award. He built theteam around the star tandem of De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis,and his key offseason additions included Kevin Huerter, Malik Monkand No. 4 overall pick Keegan Murray.

McNair received 16 first-place votes and 98 total voting points.Cleveland Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altmanwas the runner-up, receiving seven first-place votes and 63 totalvoting points.

Utah Jazz GM Justin Zanik (20 total points), Denver Nuggets GMCalvin Booth (20 total points) and Boston Celtics president ofbasketball operations Brad Stevens (13 total points) rounded outthe top-five.

Other executives who received at least one vote were Jon Horst(Milwaukee Bucks), James Jones (Phoenix Suns), Leon Rose (New YorkKnicks), Zach Kleiman (Memphis Grizzlies), Sean Marks (BrooklynNets), Rob Pelinka (Los Angeles Lakers), Sam Presti (Oklahoma CityThunder), Daryl Morey (Philadelphia 76ers), David Griffin (NewOrleans Pelicans) and Tim Connelly (Minnesota Timberwolves).

Unlike the other end-of-season awards that are voted on by mediamembers, the voting panel for the Executive of the Year awardconsisted of front-office executives across the NBA. The ballotingwas tabulated by the independent accounting firm Ernst and YoungLLP.
