A story recently came out that even the referees have noticed the perceived heaviness of the team.
Asked what it would take to turn the team around, Rivers issued a surprising response.
"With a win. You need a win," he answered. "You need something to go your way. I've been through it. But this team is too talented, in my opinion, to go through this. No matter who's been in and out, every team has guys out. I've got to figure that out."
The Buckcs have lost four straight games and six out of the last seven. According to Rivers, the Bucks haven't suffered psychologically despite losing more often than winning under Rivers' leadership.
"This team hasn't lost any belief. We're struggling right now. I think this team really believes once we get into the playoffs, but I would love us to run into the playoffs, and we're not doing that right now. We're just not. We have four games left, all playoff teams. Maybe that's a blessing for us, I don't know, but we'll figure it out," he concluded.
Khris Middleton left the game early and couldn't compete in the second half. The player had to undergo a dental procedure after getting his tooth knocked out, Rivers revealed.
"Khris was great to begin in the game, he was absolutely fantastic. You just feel bad for him, the guy can't catch a break. What are the odds? You go into the game tonight - my tooth gets knocked out," the coach ironically said. "He's having one of those seasons right now. But that's ok, because it can all turn around for him. I thought he came in with a great spirit tonight, just tough luck."
"He went to the dentist, and I don't know if he's back. I think he had to get a dental surgery, would be my guess," Rivers said.
