This victory extended UConn's staggering streak of 12 consecutive double-digit wins in NCAA Tournament action, a testament to their historic dominance dating back to the start of last year's tournament.
"You can't even wrap your mind around it because you know how hard this tournament is," UConn coach Dan Hurley said post-game.
The Huskies' back-to-back triumphs mark the first time a team has achieved this feat since Florida accomplished it in 2006 and 2007.
With this win, UConn now stands tied with North Carolina for the third-most national championships, trailing only Kentucky (8) and UCLA (11).
UConn's prowess in national title games is unparalleled, having emerged victorious in all six of their appearances in men's national championship matchups, all of which have occurred since 1999.
Leading the charge for Connecticut was guard Tristen Newton, who contributed 20 points and seven assists, while guard Stephon Castle chipped in with 15 points.
Despite a strong performance from Purdue's Zach Edey, who notched 37 points on 15-of-25 shooting from the field and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line, UConn's collective effort secured their place in history once again.
