Barkley said the eclipse is going to happen again, and it wasn't such a huge deal as people made it out to be, instead calling them losers and idiots for waiting for hours and booking overpriced accommodations to witness it.

The solar eclipse gathered millions around the world to witness the rare event on Monday. NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley doesn't think it was worth it at all.

With no NBA matches scheduled on Monday, Barkley and two of his colleagues on the Inside the NBA on TNT crew - Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith - were part of the pre-game show of the NCAA men's final between Purdue and UConn.

Prior to the game, Barkley asked the others about the solar eclipse, openly saying that the people who watched it were losers and idiots.

"Were y'all some of the losers standing outside watching that thing?" he asked.

When Barkley got confronted about it, he doubled down on his point.

"Hey, we've all seen darkness before. Stop it," Barkley said. "I'm not gonna sit outside like an idiot and wait for darkness."

The solar eclipse was a huge event in the US, gathering millions to watch it live. Airbnb was reported as having sold all properties within the eclipse range at highly increased prices. People could be seen waiting in lines for hours to get to the places where the eclipse could be clearly witnessed.
