It all started when Drummond made a steal, sparking a fast break opportunity for Bulls forward Torrey Craig. Craig attempted an ambitious self-lob off the backboard for a dunk.
However, Drummond, mistaking the pass for himself, leaped up behind Craig, also aiming for the dunk. Craig's initial attempt fell short, and Drummond, still airborne, tried to rescue the play with a putback.
A few moments later, while battling for a rebound with Knicks center Isaiah Hartenstein, Drummond sustained his left ankle injury.
He appeared to be in serious pain as he lay on the court for an extended period before eventually being wheeled off the floor.
Drummond's time on the court was short-lived. He played only five minutes and scored four points, two rebounds, and a steal before his departure.
