There were a few issues on the base that needed fixing. For example, the names of former NBA players Jose Calderon and Von Wafer were misspelled in a rendering of the box score from Bryant's 81-point game in January 2006.
Additionally, the phrase "Coach's Decision" was misspelled. Minor formatting mistakes were also present in another area on the base, which showcases many of Bryant's accomplishments.
Furthermore, a spot featuring a facsimile of Bryant's signature has been corrected to read "Kobe" instead of "Kobe 24." The bronze figure of Bryant is depicted wearing the No. 8 jersey he wore during the first half of his career.
This statue is the first of three planned to honor Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, who tragically died alongside seven others in a helicopter crash in January 2020, as confirmed by Bryant's widow, Vanessa.
