"I'm told LeBron James is not involved in the Lakers head coaching search. ... James has made it clear that this is the organization's decision, he's had no conversations with the Lakers about JJ Redick," Charania said on FanDuel TV's Run It Back.
Other potential candidates for the Lakers coaching job include Sam Cassell, James Borrego, and Kenny Atkinson.
The Purple & Gold are seeking to replace former head coach Darvin Ham, who was let go after two seasons with the team.
It's uncertain if James will play another game in a Lakers uniform. He currently has a $51.42 player option for the 2024-25 season that he hasn't decided on, although The Athletic reported that Los Angeles is willing to offer him an extension.
LeBron is expected to play two more seasons in the NBA.
