But the team managed to battle through all that because of the leadership of head coach Tom Thibodeau.
It had been earlier reported that the Knicks are planning to offer Thibodeau a long-term contract extension in the summer.The extension deal could amount to close to $10 million a year for Thibodeau, who is entering the final year of his contract next season.

Asked about the potential contract extension after the Game 7 loss, Thibodeau shared that he will let his agent figure it out and that he has enjoyed coaching the team.
“The Knicks have been great to me. This is where I want to be,” Thibodeau said.
New York hired Thibodeau in July 2020 with a reported salary of around $7 million per year until the 2024-25 season.
