EuroLeague announce Health & Safety Protocols for 2021-22 / News - Basketnews.com
The EuroLeague approved the latest Health & Safety Protocols and Special Regulations that will be enforced in the upcoming EuroLeague and EuroCup season.
These protocols were developed by cooperating with the league and club doctors. All 38 teams that will compete in next season's EuroLeague and Eurocup were consulted in the forming of these protocols.
The Health & Safety protocols include basic hygiene rules of conduct, arena and practice facility guidelines, the appointment of a COVID-19 manager in each club, recommended daily health monitoring, medical assessment forms, COVID-19 testing regulations, as well as guidelines for hotels, transportation, referees, TV production, media, and spectators.
Games that are precluded from taking place as scheduled due to a team having less than eight healthy players due to one or more of them testing positive for COVID-19 will be suspended and rescheduled.
However, each Regular Season game may be suspended a maximum of three times. The EuroLeague also enforced dates, after which no games can be rescheduled:
EuroCup Regular Season: 12 April 2022
EuroLeague Regular Season: 14 April 2022
EuroLeague Playoffs: 6 May 2022
If no dates are available for a rescheduled game or the maximum number of reschedules is exhausted, the team whose circumstances originated the initial rescheduling of the game will forfeit the game by the result of zero to twenty (0-20).
If any club refuses to play without official national or local restrictions being in place will register a 0-20 loss on the first occasion and the disqualification from the competition on the second, unless a justified cause is present.
The EuroLeague retains its right to adjust the Health & Safety protocols according to the latest COVID-19 situation in the world.
