After exhibiting solid performances throughout the year, Malik Monk of the Sacramento Kings is hoping to continue his collaboration with the team.

According to HoopsHype, Monk is aspiring to sign a free-agent deal with the Kings after his contract elapses at the end of this year.

"I'm comfortable in Sacramento. I'd love to play here again, for sure. I've been here for two years and made friends with everyone, including the training staff and front office. I'd love to be back here," said the guard about his team.

The feelings seem to be reciprocated between Monk and his team. Remarks from Domantas Sabonis, his teammate, and Mike Brown, the team coach, seem to corroborate this.

"We better keep him. I think there's no excuse," said Sabonis about Monk. "I'll talk to [president of basketball operations and general manager of the team] Monte [McNair]and [team owner]Vivek [Ranadive]. We’ve got to keep him. He’s a big piece for us moving forward," Sabonis concluded.

"It's just as easy to see how important Malik is for our organization. He is loved by his teammates, the organization, and the city," said coach Brown. "Hopefully, his free agency won't last too long and he'll be a King long term!" he stated with excitement.

It is not hard to understand why the team is also looking forward to the possibility of keeping Monk in the team. Per HoopsHype, the guard is among the top candidates to win the Sixth Man of the Year award this season.

Occasionally coming off the bench, Monk is averaging 15.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in 26 minutes per game. Currently, the guard is out with an MCL sprain. He has been out since late March and is still some weeks off from his return.
