Josh Nebo could potentially help Slovenia and Luka Doncic in the upcoming Olympic qualifying tournament in Greece.

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv center Josh Nebo might join Luka Doncic on the Slovenian national team for the Olympic qualifying tournament, sources tell BasketNews.

Per sources, the Slovenian national team has expressed interest in granting Nebo a Slovenian passport, viewing him as a suitable addition to the Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic.

Despite holding a Nigerian passport, Nebo's national team options have been limited by financial issues within the federation. Financial challenges have prevented the Nigeria national team from participating in the 2025 FIBA Afrobasket qualifiers. This setback follows their unsuccessful attempts to qualify for the 2023 World Cup.

Mike Tobey has been a naturalized player for Slovenia in the last few major Olympic tournaments, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the 2022 EuroBasket, and the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Additionally, Tobey participated in the 2025 EuroBasket Qualifiers.

Jordan Morgan, another American-born big man, has also represented Slovenia in the 2022 EuroBasket qualifiers and the 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

Slovenia is set to face Greece, the Dominican Republic, Croatia, New Zealand, and Egypt in the qualifying tournament in Greece on July 2-7.

In the EuroLeague regular season, Nebo has averaged 11.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 0.8 blocks, and a 16.6 PIR. He leads in rebounding and ranks among the top five in double-doubles (4).
