LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne continues to have underwhelming seasons in the EuroLeague. This year, Tony Parker's team is poised to finish in the second-from-last place, being ahead of only ALBA Berlin.

As the once-glorious French team continues to falter, team owner Tony Parker made statements on the matter, talking about future plans for ASVEL.

The first on the agenda was a new coach. This year, ASVEL changed its head coach twice. First, TJ Parker was fired and replaced by Gianmarco Pozzecco. Then, Pozzecco was also sacked and replaced by Pierric Poupet, a long-term assistant on the team.

"We will make a decision soon [Poupet remaining is also a possibility], although it is no secret that we are in contact with Gordon Herbert and Sergio Scariolo," Parker revealed.

After TJ Parker was sacked, one of ASVEL's top choices was Gordon Herbert, the head coach of the German national team. However, after the German Basketball Federation did not let Herbert go, ASVEL resorted to Pozzecco.

In spite of a possible change in the head coaching position, ASVEL's budget is likely to go down, partly because of unfulfilled payments by SKWEEK, which has not yet paid 2/3s of its commitments to ASVEL's budget.

"It's inevitably going to go down. Times were tough," said Parker about the team's budget. "We will see if the commitments have not been met at the end of June. As for ASVEL, we want to remain positive. They told us they would respect their commitments," Parker said about SKWEEK and the team's budget.

Having an A-license, ASVEL's participation in the EuroLeague is guaranteed for the time being. They will wrap up the season by hosting FC Barcelona tonight.
